Chaos at work!! Have really missed all of you guys....

I have been back at work for almost 1 week already and I am happy to inform you guys that I finally managed to finish all the backlogs they have left for me at work! Imagine I had to do August and September month-end reports, and the rest of the paper works they have left for me to do! Anyway, it took me a week at least to clean up my desk and I am now starting for the new month while in fact I have done some bits already.

To everyone who had been in contact with me, thanks a lot and promise I will be visiting you soonest possible. Have really missed blogging, and will be posting loads...

Another Weekend in the Middle of Nowhere

Oh I love Saturdays and Sundays here, this could mean a lot to me. First, It gives me plenty time to write posts, blogging, visit other blogs, make friends and make money of course. Why only Saturday's and Sunday's? Well, for obvious reason - everybody are so relaxed, no chasing away that things need to be done like during weekdays, you know what I mean?

Actually, we are having a party tonight, a birthday celebration of all July birthday celebrants which normally happens every last Saturday of every month or first Saturday of the following month whichever is closer. It's party time!!

Tomorrow Sunday, usual day for cooking and baking which my hubby loves it and the rest of our friends. Will think of interesting menu to cook.

Diamond Life in CUANGO, Angola

Whenever my husband and I get a chance to go anywhere of our interest, we always do. So every time we go on leave (break from work here in Angola), and come back we always have something to say about the places where we spent a week or so. Normally 1 month before we go out of the country we start planning for our next vacation. All our stories of adventure will follow, maybe next week or this coming few days.

Staying here in the middle of nowhere is not really that bad, it's only a matter of determining what you want in life. Money is here I tell you, you know why?... because we don't spend any penny at all, we save a lot. Imagine 4 months (some are on 9 & 12 months contract) of staying here without shopping, we don't buy foods, pay electricity, telephone, gas, etc... Our monthly salary goes to our bank straight away. One more thing, we are not allowed to bring cash on site (this has something to do with buying diamonds from illegal diggers - we call them Garimpero).

This is how my life started in "Africa", in the middle of nowhere…

A very rich country, blessed with enormous diamond, one of the most highly prized gemstones in the world is because of its many desirable qualities and few weaknesses. Don’t get too much excited guys, will create a new post just for diamonds alone!

Never ever that came to my mind to come to work to Africa, well I prayed that I could be able to get a job out of the country, only to earn more money to send my sisters to a decent university, where they can finish their studies, which was my life’s focus back then!

When I first came here way back mid 2000, I was still very young back then! They used to call me “nene” a tagalog shortened for young sister or a young girl. I liked the way they all treated me. Anyway, I got an Accounting Clerk position job but I tell you what? I am not actually doing a proper accounting job at all, which one way or another, I feel envious of those who really practicing of what we essentially studied, but because of money, I was able to stay! I was earning 5 even 6 times of what I used to earn in Manila, well overtime is included. One of the things that I like in this company is that, we are free food & lodging with room cleaners, a dept which takes care of our clothes (both washing & ironing), also we just go to the kitchen eat & leave our plates unwashed. … “what an easy life, I may recall” This is how we feel lucky compared to the rest of Filipinos anywhere in the world,

except,” we are like prisoners staying the middle of bushes, with no shopping, cinemas, no outlets where you can spend your day off to hang-out, or to relax during weekends”.. We describe it as “tough life behind auspicious condition”.

I was on a 12 month contract, now I am under 9 months with 1 month paid & airfare paid ticket. Imagine the amount of excitement I used to feel every time I go on leave to spend 1 month with my family, and feel sad whenever I come back for another 12 months! My formula for living here in the jungle is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.

I managed to stay until have completed the degree of my 2 sisters and found the man of my life, an English man working as Geologist here.
