Jason's Memorial Garden

Jason Pope has been missing for over 10 years, he was kidnapped in Angola, Africa. Hubby knows him, and they got to work in Angola same time together, it was in the year 1999! They arrived two years before me, yet there was still civil wars during my time but it didn't last long as the leader called Savimbi got killed somewhere, late year 2001. Hubby and I wanted to visit this festival, to share to his family our experiences and understanding about this place, that we've been there where Jason was. Sad really..

My dad-in-law forwarded this too me, this caught my attention straight away as it reminded me how Local Bandidos treated expatriates (Filipinos, English, Portuguese, South Africans, etc) during the war time. In fact, there were Filipinos got killed too!

His family have created a Memorial Garden for him and it is only open to the general public for special occasions and will be open over the Folk Festival, and
once again we will return to the fantastic Jason Garden at this years Folk Festival.

Located at the very top of East Cliff Walk (Just past the Lido/East Cliff Cafe), this amazing Garden has a stunning view over Teignmouth and is the perfect location for listening to folk festival. It was a treat for everybody that made the steap walk to the Garden but is well worth it.

It's a Stunning clifftop garden with 180 degree panoramic view of sea and South Devon coastline. Modern, stylish design with high quality landscaping and bold planting, creating areas of individuality within an harmonious whole. This tactile garden is accessible and of interest to all and its underlying ethos leaves a lasting impression. Seeing is believing.

Jason's Garden has been showcased on the BBC's Open Garden and has been included in the Yellow Book.

Gorgeous Rings For Your Engagement

Getting engaged is one of the most wonderful and exciting events in woman's life, and one thing always attached to the word "engagement" is a perfect ring for a wonderful woman! I remember exactly my feelings when I got engaged, that couldn't really wait to have a diamond engagement ring. In fact, as soon as I got my ring, I didn't want to stop showing off to my friends and family and it was one of the most precious gifts I have ever received from my husband.

Engagement Rings for me are eternal symbol and mark of commitment and love between lovers. Diamonds are a perfect stone to be set into engagement rings, and whether you choose round diamonds (like what I've got) or perhaps a princess cut (this is quite common on engagement rings), or emerald cut diamond, Blue Nile website offers you a wide collection of engagement rings.

The good thing about Blue Nile is that, it gives you an opportunity to choose your ideal design and stone cut, settings you want, and a choice of the ring you want. How I wish to get engaged again for me to get another ring, of course with my husband. I can never thinking of being engaged forever with the love of my life.

My Nephew Braint Has Grown Up Alot!

It has been quite a while since I blogged about my nephew - BRAINT MICHAEL (1st grandchild of my parents), it was even before I saw him in person (see his cute smile here), it was when he was still months old. And now he is already 1 year old and 4 months! Time has gone very quick and he had also grown up alot too....

We used to give him S26 formula milk during his first 6 months, and Promil from 6 months to 1 year old! Somehow, I'd realized that proper formula milk helps a lot in baby's brain development....He is such a clever, smart, intelligent, you name it! So it was worth spending a fortune on his milk really.... LOL..
My sisters in Manila have only borrowed him, he had flown with my other sister back to Manila from Bohol and now they didn't want to return him back to his parents. He's been away from them for more than 2 months now, I believe that they could only see him again if they visit Manila. Sad thing is, he doesn't even missed his mama and papa! Oh dear.....

Leeds Castle, Kent - Part III

We always come passed this castle on the way going to my parents-in-law's place, but we never thought of going into this place until the Kent Police hosted the National Police Dog Trials on the 22nd-26th of this month, which we did go last Friday with Alfie and my in-laws. We spent the whole afternoon there and we really had a good fun especially we had Alfie - the little man!Leeds Castle in Kent, England, has been called the "loveliest castle in the world". Listed in the Domesday Book, this castle has been a Norman stronghold, a royal residence and a royal palace. It's situation is stunning, set on two islands in a magnificent lake. The Royal Manor was originally built in 857AD and owned by the Saxon royal family. After the Norman Conquest, work began on building the first stone castle on the site.

That's me doing some practice...lol...

Home Secutiry Gadgets For Safe Living

In today's world, we should need to consider in increasing our security for our own safety. Even if we think we are living in a serene place, but we never know what's gonna happen. Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that it can happen anytime and we should take preventive measures to minimize the risks.

Just few days ago we bought a small gadget, a personal panic alarm with pull-pin activation. An inexpensive one that still draws attention to any crisis may arise. We may be at less risk if we always stay at home with other family members, than those who live alone and who often away on business trips, however, we can always guarantee despite of the facts. Having any of these home security gadgets installed in our homes, we can ascertain to be the less objective of burglars.

I should say that, prevention is better than restoring what you may have to loose.

Excellent Baltimore Remodeling Contractor - A Help for Home Improvement

Have you ever remodeled your house? Normally this includes the top two changes; that of a new kitchen and bathroom, but there is more. On our case, we did our kitchen first and we haven't done anything about our bathroom yet. Remodeling a house involves a lot of decision making process. One of the most important is the financial aspect or the cost of the renovation. Renovations can prove to be very expensive and it is important that you are able to mange the costs involved in the renovation. However, there are also major considerations that you need to look at even before you decide to renovate.

Once you have decided to renovate your home, you must then be able to review the bids and quotations that potential contractors and builders like the Baltimore Remodeling. Apparently, they specialize in the following fields:
  • Working with you to design a floor plan to present to an architect, saving you hundreds of dollars.
  • Building custom and modular homes, do total rehabs, build additions and garages and do interior and exterior remodeling.
  • Erecting and completin modular homes, both stock and custom floor plans, with North American Housing Corp.
  • Building decks, patios, carports and fences.
See their website: www.northamericanhousing.com, they are registered with the State of Maryland Housing Rehab Project.

The bids that are submitted to you should include the cost of construction materials, the cost of construction labor, permit fees, decorating the remodeled part, the cost of repairs due to remodeling and cleaning up after remodeling. It is important the contractors and builders submit accurate and specific figures on all costs so that you can consider all aspects of the cost.

National Police Dog Trials at Leeds Castle, Kent - Part I

It was a lovely Friday the 24th of April when we decided to watch this National Police Dog Trials for the first time in the prestigious event's 49 year history.... and the final phase of the trials took place at LEEDS CASTLE in KENT, just 20 minutes away from where we live. The highlights were:
  • Obedience - Sits, stays, walking to heel off lead
  • Send away and redirection - Dog is sent to a given point 100 metres away and then redirected left or right for 50 metres
  • Agility – Nearly one metre hurdle, 1.8 metre scale, window obstacle and 1.8 metre long jump
  • Straight chase - Chase a fleeing criminal and bite and detain
  • Stand off - As above but criminal gives up and dog must not bite, but must stand off and bark
  • Emergency recall - Straight chase but when the dog is 30 metres away in full flight, must return to handler on command
  • Weapon attack - Dog must bite an advancing aggressive criminal armed with a weapon
  • Gun attack - As above but with criminal discharging gun
  • Crowd control - Must first walk to heel through a passive/non threatening crowd then when crowd becomes aggressive – respond and through controlled canine aggression move the crowd to a determined point. The crowd will then become passive and then the dog must walk through with no aggression.
This is the LEEDS CASTLE, will blog about this castle shortly.

The Imporatance of Having a Car Insurance

Car insurance is never something to be taken lightly because it provides the safety umbrella of financial security that is required when driving a car. Often, people take the need for insurance for granted because they generally do not have problems driving. In honestly, the vast majority of drivers in the world are sane and safe divers.
Yes, there are a great many reckless drivers on the road, and even if we regard ourselves as responsible drivers, doesn't still save us from any harm on the roads and hi-ways! In fact, there is always the chance of an errant accident. That is why car insurance should be highly considered.

It basically protects us from personal liability should we be in an accident. If you are in an accident and you are at fault you can be held personally responsible for the costs of medical bills if a person is injured and major monetary awards if a person is killed. These costs can all but ruin most families.

Think safety and security! Check carinsuranceqt.com for detalils.

We Visited the World of Water - The Pond Centre!

We visited the one in Rolvenden Kent, just few miles away from where we live in Tenterden. This is the UK's Leading Aquatic Superstores. I didn't know about this place, hubby decided to bring me in here to see various types of ponds, species of fish, fountains, etc...

We both like to have a small pond in our garden in the future, but it is not just practical of having one this time as baby is coming along soon and not a very good idea though...
I'd really love to have any of these ones below, its like having a mini water fall in the garden... wouldn't it nice to have one?Another option would be one of these barrels, if you don't a large garden then its perfect for a courtyard one. The sounds of running water can be very relaxing indeed!... if not, I would be so happy to have this dolphins....You know the idea of having a pond surrounded with plants and flowers, is hubby's dream....Could either be purely NATURAL STYLE (with plenty of plants and flowers with soft edges like the one below), or FORMAL STYLE where its more hard edges (squares or rectangles), often with ornamental fountains....don't look at my big bump huh!! LOL....

My Sister Is Looking for a Greener Pasture

She is my sister Ghie. She graduated from Adamson University Manila as a Computer Engineer! Apparently, she is one of my sisters whom I managed to send to university when I first came to Angola to work (when I was still young as 21 yrs of age!)...

Anyway, right after she graduated even without having any work experience locally, she applied for a job abroad - in Taiwan as a Repair Engineer/Technician, which she did manage to!!!... and off the record, she was also 21 years old when she first left Philippines (same age as me)! I should say that we are quite fortunate when it comes to applying for a job abroad! uuummmmm... My other sister next to her was the same too (I will blog separately about her)....

Then, she will be 27 years old this coming May 14 (still single)! In short, she has been working in the same company (High-Tech Computer Corp.) for almost 6 years now.

However, SHE WANTS A CHANGE!!! A change in work maybe and a change in country... While she already started her application for CANADA... If ever she'll ever be lucky and will eventually get a job there, it won't be difficult for her as we have loads of cousins living in Calgary. GOOD LUCK MY DEAR SISTER...

her second option would be, if Canada is not meant for her, she can come here in the UK to join me as family, and in due course, she can look for a job.

CD Earth Free Video Games

That's right! CD Earth is giving away FREE Software CD while enjoying the ten of your favorite action video games in one fun collection. The name you can trust in software collections. Apparently, CD Earth had pulled together these exceptional video games compilations though special licensing and distribution agreements with some of the best-in-the-industry software companies in the U.S., Canada and around the world. Off the record, these companies have received many industry honors and awards for the software products available on our CD collections.

Good idea for hubby, as he loves his video games so much! He normally spends hours and hours of sitting down defending himself from enemies, and what a coincidence too for bumping into this website, as I have been looking for any video game collection to buy for his birthday. Considering that I could get them for free, with so much actions games in one collection, is absolutely amazing! Video gaming has traditionally been a social experience. From its early beginnings, video games have commonly been playable by more than a single player. Whether we agree with his optimism or not, there is little doubt that our children's popular entertainment is becoming increasingly hi-tech. Video games emerge from the convergence of the twentieth century's two most important communication technologies - the computer and television and this "hybrid" is already profoundly changing the way children play and learn, and even adults.

From amongst the classic video games on this CD are: Space Pirates, Fighter Pirates, 3D Space Attack, Motocross, Enemy Territory, and Galactic Mushrooms. Check CD Earth now to get your free Software CD, and take time to read their testimonials from various customers around the world.

A lush, green lawn is something that all homeowners seem to crave. I know that if you want that kind of lawn yourself, you need to know how to get it, and more importantly, how to keep it looking that way. For me, having a sprinkler system is the answer while in fact, we are really considering of buying one for our decent sized garden.

Once you buy a sprinkler system installation kit for your lawn, your grass will more than likely be healthier than it has ever been. It is designed to deliver water to your garden and lawn in a different way, so the best garden irrigation or watering plan is one that uses a combination of techniques.

Our Shed Has Finally In Place

Like I mentioned on "Our Unfinished Garden" before, that I have been longing to have our dream garden be finalized! However, even before we could make more flower beds, we have to put up our Shed first.... and here they are, my dad-in-law and hubby were busy of it for these past two days.Imagine, they had to drive to come and help hubby. Though I couldn't really help much with this, but by making them nice dinner makes a lot for them indeed! Lol, I'm still not completely useless!!! hahahahaHere it is, almost 100% finished! Still have to install the glass window but apparently, one set was all broken so will go out today to buy the replacement. Plus we also have to secure the base by filling the gaps with cement, after that, ready to move all the gardening stuff, tools, etc...
