Thumbelina - The World's Smallest Horse

She may be small, a mere 17 inches and weighing only 60 pounds. But she is all horse. Born as a dwarf to a miniature horse, Thumbelina is officially the world’s smallest horse.

She may never aspire to be a champion show-jumper – she is so tiny she would find it hard to jump over a bucket. But these things matter little to the feisty Thumbelina, who has been officially recognized as the world’s smallest horse. That title was conferred on her in 2006 when the five-year-old entered the Guinness Book of Records.

The real-life My Little Pony was born on an American farm to a couple who specialize in breeding miniature horses. Normally these horses weight about 250lb and rise to a height of 34 inches when they are fully grown. But from the day she was born it was clear that tiny Thumbelina would never grow to that size. She weighed in at only 8lb – the size of a new-born baby - when she was born.

Eventually she grew to just 60lb. Her amazing size has been explained as dwarfism. This makes her a miniature of a miniature. She may be a mini-horse, but small means beautiful as far as her owners, the Goessling family in Goose Creek farm in St. Louis, are concerned. She likes to hang out with the cocker spaniels rather than the other horses on their 150-acre farm.

“When she was born, she was so small we thought she wasn’t going to make it. She looked very ill. We feared the worse. “Because her legs are proportionally smaller than her body and her head, she has to wear orthopaedic fittings to straighten them out a lot of the time. “But we love her and wouldn’t want her any other way,” said Michael Goessling, whose parents Kay and Paul bred the miniature horses. She only measures up to the shins of the normal-sized horses in the paddock.

Michael’s parents have bred hundreds of miniature horses, but they have never had one as small as Thumbelina. She has become something of a celebrity in her home town in America. She lives on a cup of grain and a handful of hay, served twice a day. She is expected to live to the age of 17 years because of her size – normal horses live for about 35 years. “She was just a complete fluke and we call her a mini mini. She is too precious to sell. I think my parents would sell me before they part with Thumbelina. She has that special Wow factor, which you only get when you see how small she really is,” said Michael.

While she has the ability to get pregnant and give birth, the Goessling family have decided not to allow this to happen. There could be complications during the pregnancy, they believe, so it is better to avoid the risks. And also they don‘t feel it is right that the gene which creates dwarfism in horses be carried on through future generations.

Was Off Blogging For These Past Couple of Days

I wasn't been very active in blogging for these past days!, as I was so occupied with too many things, perhaps thinking too much at the same time that made me feeling extremely exhausted. I wasn't worried or feeling sad (as I know it would affect my baby), I should say that my brain was filled up that I couldn't think about blogging.

However, the more I think the more I get confused! Although I have realized it plenty times that when I spend times in blogging, I tend to forget about things, which in the end makes me feel more calmed down! I just need to push my a***s a little bit sometimes. LOL...

My Obsession Of Interior Design and Furnitures Led Me To Bankruptcy! LOL

It wasn't that long that I blogged about "Our Unfinished House in Laguna", also when I was on the process of choosing "Fashionable Curtains for this House", other than anything else buying FURNITURES was not on my list of things yet to be done, not just yet! By the way, the house hasn't been completely finished yet, they are still working on patios and gate, garden and wall finishing on the outside. But we're getting there....

Presenting My Nephew BRAINT!

I never ever get tired of looking back at my (fat faced) gorgeous nephew's photographs, in fact, I made this special Powerpoint works to compile his photographs. This is the only way it could ease my feelings in his long absence on webcam sessions, as he is now back in my hometown Bohol to join his parents. I do really missed him!!
I tell you what, he wasn't this big about 2 months ago and he's got his face doubled all of a sudden!! He must fed properly by my sisters... uummm no wonder as he is the only cheeky baby (1st nephew) of our family. He already has his younger brother, but still 2 months old! An Amusing Story About EMU (Time to Laugh)

'Well, love' says the truckie, 'a few years ago, I was cleaning out the back shed, and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.'

'That's brilliant!' says the waitress. 'Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!'

'That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,' says the man.

He will be returning to Bohol to join his parents again this coming week! I was told that his mother (my sister) has really been crying missing her mischievous son...

My In_Laws' Beautiful Garden

It has been two years now since they'd moved in to this house, and gardening is one of the things consumes their time, they both love gardening!... and here's the result! Will be even looking even more beautiful when all the flowers blossom this coming summer. Will blog more striking flowers later of the month or by first weeks in June.

White flowers are CLIMATIS (forgot the specific type/variety of this one), we also have the same family in our garden but of different variety and color too...

One thing I like staying in their garden is the sounds of water from this water feature we bought the last time we were at the World of Water.Hubby and dad were busy sorting out some nice stones we brought from Angola! They were looking so serious thought they might have seen diamonds in one of them! hahahaha....

Alfie with His New Toy Freddie the Frog

We went to see my in-laws yesterday (Friday) and to see the gorgeous Alfie at the same time, as it was their schedule of looking after him. We thought that they might need some help after having him for 3 consecutive days, must be tiring huh! Well, as usual he was as cheeky as ever little gorgeous boy.We got to their place while they were away shopping, and as soon as they got back he was rushed in to the garden where we were, with a big grin on his face as soon as he saw both of us. He loves his Auntie Madz and Uncle Stuart really. It's probably because we both spend time to play with him always.... what an overwhelming emotion, indeed! In fact, he often calls our names even not seeing us for couple of days.... Then his Nanna bought him a TOY FROG, and ohhh he was so eager to play with it. He asked his Uncle Stuart to SISI (fix it) LOL and add WATER, he still couldn't pronounce most words properly. He even calls Stuart as TUWIT hehehehehe, and myself as MAZZZ...Photo above, he was trying to figure out how the water comes out inside the frog and he all of a sudden I noticed him kissing it!, and next thing he did was squirting water inside his mouth hahaha...

Playing with hubby, spraying some water unto his hands.......and now spraying it all over his face....

....and looking very wet after using at least a litre of water unto his face! silly billy, hehehehe... he really had a good time with us and likewise!

Fashionable Curtains I Love for Our House in Laguna

A while ago, I blogged about our "Unfinised House in Laguna", the house I managed to buy when I was still working in Angola, which at the beginning it was just for investment purposes, that however my plans changed in times, and decided to extend it to another 3 meters. In the end, it is worth to have another decent sized bedroom, dining and a living room.

I tell you what, I am finally relieved from financial stress after all!, considering that the original budget was only to spend at least P180k, but in the end the total amount spent was P350k! It nearly gave me a heart attack, to be honest with you. Which means that all other plans had to be put on hold due to budget constraints.

Though it has just finished from finishing, to painting and we are now on the process of buying furniture, some appliances, bedding, curtains and the rest all other accessories needed! Whew, I didn't realize it was gonna be this expensive and stressful, but like I said it was worth all the money we'd spent.

Speaking of chic curtains I'd ever loved to have, are this photos below! I found a "bespoke" curtain supplier and she'll make these curtains for me. They are quite expensive though but nothing really makes you feel fulfilled until you get want you want, even in small things like this!

Summer Flowers We Planted in our Garden That We Look Forward to See

Flawless BLUE Diamond, One of the World's Rarest Gems

David Bennett, chairman, Europe and the Middle East, Sotheby's international jewellery department, said: "Blue diamonds are among the rarest of all nature's treasures and it is very exciting to have such a fine example as the centrepiece of our forthcoming Geneva Magnificent Jewels sale.

"This stone certainly ranks among the most important blue diamonds that I have had the privilege of offering for sale in my career at Sotheby's. What makes it particularly special for us is that we've been able to follow its production from the initial rough state through the various stages of its cutting and polishing."

The cushion-shaped gem is internally flawless and owes its distinctive colour to the presence of the chemical element boron during its formation. The diamond, set in a ring, is expected to fetch between £4 million and £6 million at Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva on May 12.

It's Exactly One Year When We Last Visited Central LONDON!

It was April 2008 when "I First Visited England For The Very First Time", and I remember exactly the excitement I had felt as I asked everyone to visit all the places they mentioned before I got here! Imagine in just a few week visit here, we even managed to visit the CENTRAL LONDON at "London City Walk I Would Never Forget"(because of my aching feet!!!LOL) . Here are some of photos....

SPRING 2008 in Kensington Gardens

Then we headed straight to the 'Buckingham Palace' - serves as both the office and London residence of Her Majesty The Queen, as well as the administrative headquarters of the Royal Household. It is one of the few working royal palaces remaining in the world today. We also went passed the 'House of Parliaments' and the 'Big Ben' itself. AMAZING!!! Really, an ABSOLUTE BEAUTY!! We took some photographs and headed straight to the 'London Eye' direction, took some photographs down the road with its background, showing the river at the back of the 'Big Ben' and the 'House of Parliament'.

Photos at below right were at the "TOWER OF LONDON", in the rainy morning (on our 2nd day before we came back home in the afternoon)....Hubby and I will be seeing Central London again maybe in a few weeks' time for my visa application, to visit Philippine Embassy too and Angolan Embassy for hubby's working visa. But one thing I can assure you friends, I won't be posting much of photographs especially of myself as won't be posing much anymore (you'll be surprise my size compared to these ones hahahaha), so here are the photos of the places we would possibly be visiting again....

3) My sister - MHAE will be on the 26th (4th sis), on her wedding (I couldn't find a pic of herself alone)

We Decided to Buy a 3-Seater Sofa for my Convenience

Just few weeks ago, hubby and I decided to buy this 3-Seater Sofa with 2 RECLINER actions on both ends, for the reason being that I am not comfortable anymore with the settee we have at the moment! Apparently, this was an old one of hubby's sister and have been in our possession for nearly 3 years now plus 3-4 years of been used by them! OLD isn't it?, plus it is not very cosy anymore! However, we could only have it UNFORRTUNATELY in 10 weeks time! Delivery time is 10-12 weeks as it comes from overseas (could be China, as usual LOL), and we ordered one about two weeks ago. But I tell you what, it is really worth waiting that long... and by the time it arrives, I will be 6-1/2 months pregnant! Wouldn't be perfect?
